Baker & McKenzie has elected 15 new partners in North America. In addition, the Firm also elected four attorneys to Counsel and one individual to Director Economist. The elections were effective January 1, 2014.

Partners:

Summer Austin is a partner in the Tax Practice, based in Washington, DC.  Her practice focuses on international tax matters, including transfer pricing, tax dispute resolution, and international tax planning. She has extensive experience in addressing transfer pricing issues, both within the planning and dispute resolution context. Ms. Austin has also advised clients on a variety of international tax matters, including permanent establishment and other treaty matters, value chain transformation, and sourcing of income. Ms. Austin received her bachelors degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Steven Hadjilogiou is a partner in the Tax Practice, based in Miami. He primarily focuses on general international tax planning, state and local tax planning, subpart F planning, treaty issues, general and international tax planning, as well as general partnership taxation. Mr. Hadjilogiou also provides counsel on local country tax, inbound and outbound transactional planning, and corporate and estate tax issues in numerous jurisdictions throughout the world. He received his bachelors degree, masters degree, J.D. and LL.M. from the University of Florida.

Dominika Korytek is a partner in the Tax Practice, based in San Francisco/Palo Alto. She advises companies on US federal income tax matters and international tax planning, particularly those related to domestic and international mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations, as well as foreign tax credit and subpart F planning. Ms. Korytek received her bachelors degree from Cornell University, her J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law and her LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Matthew S. Mock is a partner in the Tax Practice, based in Chicago. He focuses his practice on representing clients at all stages of tax disputes — from audit through appeal — involving a wide variety of state and local tax issues, including sales tax, income tax, and franchise tax disputes. He also advises companies on the state and local tax aspects of corporate restructurings, and has extensive experience with unclaimed property. Mr. Mock received his bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.

Reza Nader is a partner in the Tax Practice, based in New York. He focuses on international tax planning and transactions, advising clients on international mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, supply chain restructurings, investments, and joint ventures and alliances. He also advises clients on dispositions of US real property interests, foreign tax credit and subpart F planning, bankruptcy reorganizations, and income tax treaties, including competent authority matters. Mr. Nader received his bachelors degree from Schulich School of Business at York University, his J.D. from Emory University, and his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Kristen B. Proschold is a partner in the Tax Practice, based in San Francisco/Palo Alto. She represents companies in all stages of tax controversies, advising companies facing potential tax controversies pre-audit, during the audit and administrative appeals, during alternative dispute resolution proceedings, and in U.S. Tax Court. Her client base includes companies with significant intellectual property, such as those from the software, semi-conductor, e-commerce and retail industries. Ms. Proschold received her bachelors degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Daniel J. White is a partner in the Tax Practice, based in Chicago. He advises clients on transfer pricing and other tax litigation matters, where he represents individuals and corporations in all stages of federal tax disputes with the IRS — from IRS audits to administrative appeals and US Tax Court litigation. Mr. White received his bachelors degree from Northwestern University, his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and his LL.M. from New York University School of Law.

Elizabeth A. Yablonicky is a partner in the Tax Practice, based in Chicago. She advises US and foreign multinational companies on transfer pricing planning issues and related disputes. She represents companies negotiating Advance Pricing Agreements with the IRS and foreign tax authorities as well as in requests for double tax relief from the US Competent Authority. Ms. Yablonicky also advises clients on developing intercompany pricing policies. She received her bachelors degree from Rice University and her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Counsel:

Elizabeth A. Lieb is counsel in the Tax Practice, based in San Francisco/Palo Alto. She advises on a variety of international tax planning matters for multinational corporations, including structuring and implementing international operations, such as intangible property arrangements, and manufacturing and services supply chains.  She also advises on subpart F planning, tax treaties, and the tax aspects of multi-jurisdictional post-acquisition integrations and other corporate reorganizations. Ms. Lieb received her bachelors degree from the University of Iowa, her J.D. from California Western School of Law and her LL.M. from New York University School of Law.

Director:

Eric Torrey is a Director of Economics, based in Washington, DC. His practice focuses on transfer pricing consulting/restructuring, economic analysis and valuation, controversy support (audit and litigation defense), transfer pricing documentation, and negotiations with various tax authorities, principally in the context of Advance Price Agreements (APAs). Prior to joining the Washington, DC office, Mr. Torrey spent four years with the Firm’s Mexico City office helping to build the Latin America transfer pricing practice. Mr. Torrey received his bachelors degree from Vanderbilt University and his MBA from Georgetown University.
