Mark Agnew, VAT – (London)

Mark is a VAT specialist (and not a lawyer) who has been with the Firm since 2008. He trained with Andersen, worked for Barclays Bank for a short period and then moved to PwC before joining Bakers. His areas of expertise lie in the following industries: Financial services, technology & e-commerce, general international, aviation, real estate

 

Summer Austin, Dispute Reolution, APAs, Tax Litigation – (Washington, DC)

Ms. Austin joined the Tax Practice Group of Baker & McKenzie’s Washington, DC office in the fall of 2006. After working for a year in the firm’s Düsseldorf office, Ms. Austin returned to practice in the firm’s DC office in June of 2012. Ms. Austin’s practice focuses on international tax matters, including transfer pricing, tax dispute resolution, and international tax planning. She has extensive experience in addressing transfer pricing issues, both within the planning and dispute resolution context. Ms. Austin has also advised clients on a variety of international tax matters, including permanent establishment and other treaty matters, value chain transformation, and sourcing of income. Within the field of tax dispute resolution, Ms. Austin has developed expertise in Competent Authority matters, Advance Pricing Agreements, audit defense, and tax litigation.

Nigel is an Economist, not a lawyer, and has been a Director with Baker & McKenzie since 2009. He is woking in a supply chain management group. The focus recently has been on private equity clients and deal structuring.

Pavel Fekar (Prague)

Pavel has been with the Firm since 2006. He trained with Deloitte in the Czech Republic for over 8 years before joining. Pavel has an LLM in International Taxation and hold a Masters in Law and a Masters in International Trade.

Lyubomir Georgiev – (Zurich)

Lyubomir is a member of the Firm’s Europe & Middle East Wealth Management Steering Committee. He has been assisting high net worth individuals, banks, fiduciaries, and insurance companies in connection with their wealth management needs, as well as tax, securities and regulatory compliance. He has also been involved in tax information exchange, voluntary disclosures and tax treaty negotiations.

Specialties:international taxation, withholding, tax disclosure and filings, expatriation and executive relocation, trust planning and succession, life insurance and annuity products, individual and institutional securities and regulatory compliance, tax information exchange agreement negotiations, clients with US, UK, Swiss and Liechtenstein connections, the European Union and its member countries, Russia, the Caribbean, Singapore and Hong Kong.

 

Steven Hadjilogiou – (Miami)

Steve is a member of the Firm’s Tax Practice Group. He focuses primarily on general international tax planning, state and local tax planning, subpart F planning, treaty issues, general and international tax planning, as well as general partnership taxation. He also provides sound counsel on local country tax, inbound and outbound transactional planning, corporate and estate tax issues in numerous jurisdictions throughout the world. He has represented a broad spectrum of international and domestic clients — including Fortune 500 companies and major privately held businesses — in their international, outbound global tax planning.

Daniel White works in the Firm’s Global Tax Practice Group in Chicago. Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie, Mr. White served as attorney-adviser to US Tax Court Judge Juan Vasquez in Washington DC.

Mr. White focuses on advising clients on transfer pricing and other tax litigation matters. He represents individuals and corporations in all stages of federal tax disputes with the IRS — from IRS audits to administrative appeals and US Tax Court litigation.

Juan Carlos Valles is a Partner from the Tax Practice Group, he regularly advises clients in the areas of international tax planning, permanent establishment, taxation of non-residents, cross-border transactions, corporate taxes, flat tax and value added tax. Mr. Valles previously work as a member of the Firm’s Foreign Trade and Customs Practice Group for several years, where he assisted several companies with legal advice on Mexico’s network of free trade agreements and other legal matters related to the international trade regulation and customs legislation.
