BDO has announced 14 new partners in the UK Firm.
These include 6 new tax partners:
Chris Chapple, London Tax
Chris specialises in providing advice on remuneration arrangements for employees and partners of UK and global businesses, with particular emphasis on:
– tax effective remuneration planning
– private equity and similar corporate transactions, including IPOs
– broader reward strategy and governance advice for listed companies and remuneration committees, including in financial services
Neil Stockham, London Tax
Neil’s work includes advising clients on overseas expansion, tax efficient financing and supply chain structures, cross border M&A transactions and managing UK, IFRS and US GAAP tax reporting processes.
Richard Morley, London Tax Investigations
Richard has over 25 years of tax experience. He specialises in managing complex tax enquiries and voluntary disclosures to HM Revenue & Customs for both UK domiciled and non-UK domiciled clients.
Richard is a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser, a Fellow of the Association of Taxation Technicians and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He handles tax enquiries and investigations often conducted by HMRC under Code of Practice 8 and 9, now referred to as the Contractual Disclosure Facility. He also helps clients who want to voluntarily deal with a tax problem.
Richard has dealt with various types of serious fraud enquiry for many different clients and has built a reputation for handling cases involving overseas assets, deceased estates and charities.
He has written various articles for the taxation press on HMRC’s disclosure facilities and investigation techniques.
Richard also frequently lectures at tax conferences both nationally and internationally on the subject of HMRC’s disclosure facilities and investigation powers.
Client experience includes:
Managing Code of Practice 8 and 9 investigations involving offshore trusts, onshore and offshore assets for both UK domiciled and non-UK domiciled clients
Helping executors resolve tax disputes or undeclared issues in Death Estate cases
HMRC challenges to personal residence and domicile status
Dealing with HMRC enquiries into Gift Aid claims for a number of associated charities and schools
Helping clients to make a voluntary disclosure to HMRC if possible by using the terms of the Liechtenstein Disclosure Facility. Again, this involves both domiciled and non-UK domiciled clients.
Dawn Register, London Tax Disputes
Dawn manages complex tax return enquiries, voluntary disclosures and tax fraud investigations conducted by HM Revenue & Customs. She specialises in personal and international tax issues, including offshore trusts, property, residency and domicile.
Dawn trained in expatriate tax at a ‘Big 4’ firm, involved in both UK and US tax compliance and advisory work. Based in BDO, London office, Dawn is a Chartered Tax Adviser. Her recent work has focused on changes in HMRC powers, penalties and appeals processes, international information exchange and the tax disclosure opportunities or ‘amnesties’. Dawn is a recognised expert on the Liechtenstein Disclosure Facility and the UK / Switzerland Tax Agreement and a full member of STEP.
Dawn is a CEDR accredited mediator and is promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution to resolve tax issues with HMRC. Dawn is a regular presenter on tax investigations issues, writes trade articles and teaches on tax.

Advice on domicile status and structuring of offshore bank accounts as part of a disclosure to HMRC

Emma Suchland, Manchester Tax
Emma leads the North Region’s M&A tax offering. I advise vendors (individual and corporate), investors and management teams on buy-ins, buy-out, refinancing and exits; a number in the private equity market.
She has a portfolio of UK and international clients too, many of whom are private equity backed. She also has extensive experience in employee incentives tax, developing solutions that support commercial objectives, tax efficiently to ensure key talent is retained and incentivised.
Paul Daly, Reading Tax
Paul specialises in Transfer Pricing and Value Chain. He joined BDO in 2012 from Vodafone, where he was Group Tax Manager.
