Former Deloitte tax partner, John Davidson, joins Cumberland Building Society as Non Exec

Cumberland Building Society has announced the appointment of John Davidson as a new Non-Executive Director. The Cumberland is the UK’s 10th largest building society and Cumbria’s largest financial organisation with assets of more than £1.6 billion.

Mr Davidson worked for many years as an in-house tax adviser with major corporates like Teneco, Virgin Group and Man Group. He moved back to the Big 4 in 1997 and spent 10 years with Deloitte as a tax partner, before retiring in 2007.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Davidson said, “I am very pleased to be joining the Cumberland’s Board of Directors. I look forward to working with the rest of the Board to ensure that the Society continues to deliver the benefits of mutuality to its current and future members.”

Michael Pratt, the Cumberland’s Chairman, said, “This is an excellent appointment for the Cumberland, and I am pleased to welcome John to the Board. John’s experience will be a real asset to the Board and will help us to continue delivering outstanding results for our members.”
