Johnson Winter & Slattery raids Corrs Chambers Westgarth for senior tax partners: Tang and Grieve
Australian Commercial Law Firm, Johnson Winter & Slattery, has announced the appointment of Reynah Tang and Stewart Grieve as partners in its transactional and advisory practice. Previously partners at Corrs Chambers Westgarth, both are sought out by leading major companies in Australia for their dexterity with complex tax matters.
Reynah Tang advises listed, multinational and public sector clients in the financial services, property and infrastructure and manufacturing industries on the taxation implications of mergers/acquisitions, public private partnerships, privatisations, corporate reorganisations, employee share and option schemes and capital raisings (debt/equity). He has also assisted clients in relation to requests for tax rulings, taxation audits and freedom of information applications.
He has been recognised as a leading tax adviser in a range of publications including Asia Pacific Legal 500, Best Lawyers, Chambers Global and World Tax Review.
In 2013, Reynah served as the first President of the Law Institute of Victoria from an Asian Australian background.
Stewart Grieve has a strong practice in Australia and abroad, with a combination of extensive experience as an advisor coupled with the insights gained from working within a major corporation. He specialises in advising major listed public companies on taxation investigations and enquiries, dispute resolution and litigation. He was previously Director of Taxation for Foster’s Group Ltd, a role in which he oversaw their global tax function including tax controversy work in Australia, the Americas and Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“Reynah and Stewart’s appointment reflects our desire to continue building our Melbourne cohort of practitioners in strategically compatible practice areas, and thereby increase the firm’s client base in Melbourne,” said managing partner Peter Slattery.
