Gary Ashford joins Harbottle & Lewis as Tax Partner
Gary Ashford has just been recruited by London law firm Harbottle & Lewis, as a partner. He joins from Kinetic Partners where he has been for just 1 year and 4 months. Prior to this Gary was National Head of Tax Investigations at RSM Tenon.
Gary Ashford is a partner in the Private Capital group. He advises high-net-worth individuals, trusts and corporate clients on a range of complex tax matters.
Gary’s specialisms include advising clients in relation to:
HMRC enquiries and tax investigations
Large tax disputes
Offshore tax matters
Corporate tax structuring and re-structuring
Developments in global transparency
Various FACTA, inter-governmental agreements
Gary is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and sits on the CIOT Council. He is a current member of the Professional Standards sub-committee. He represents CIOT on the Professional Affairs Committee of the Confederation Fiscale Europeen (CFE), the umbrella body for tax advisers in Europe, and sits on the CFE General Assembly. Additionally Gary is a committee member of the ICAEW Tax Investigation Practitioners Group.
Gary is not a lawyer – he trained with HMRC as a Tax Inspector. He is also a Fellow of the CIOT. He will be working alongside Glen Atchison who leads the tax practice and is also Managing Partner of the firm.
