James Eads from Ryan appointed to the California Franchise Tax Board Advisory Board
Ryan has announced that James R. Eads, Jr., Ryan Principal, Taxpayer Advocacy, has been appointed to the California Franchise Tax Board Advisory Board. He is the first non-Californian to achieve this distinction.
The California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) is the agency of California responsible for administering the state’s Personal Income Tax and Corporation Tax. The Advisory Board is made up of representatives from industry, state, and federal government and provides insight and advice to the FTB Executive Officer on the various projects and programs being administered.
Mr. Eads is based in the Firm’s Austin, Texas office and supports Ryan clients across the United States with tax advocacy issues. Prior to joining Ryan, Mr. Eads was the Executive Director of the Federation of Tax Administrators (FTA), where he represented the interests of tax administrators before federal policymakers and served tax agencies across the United States. He is a nationally recognized tax leader and has served on the State Tax Advisory Board of CCH, the Advisory Board of the Georgetown Advanced State and Local Tax Institute, the BNA Tax Management State Tax Advisory Board, and the National Tax Association Board of Directors as an Advisory Member. He is also a past President of the National Tax Association and former Chairman of the Electronic Commerce Task Force of the Council On State Taxation.
