TP specialist Shane Koball resigns from EY to join Baker & McKenzie as Director of Economics
Shane Koball has joined Baker & McKenzie Consulting LLC as a Director of Economics.
Mr. Koball, who is based in New York, brings extensive experience in advising multinational corporations on transfer pricing planning, compliance and dispute resolution, as well as supply chain planning and restructuring. He has advised clients in a variety of industries including industrial products, life sciences, automotive, retail and consumer products, and media and advertising.
“Transfer pricing is the top tax concern for many of our multinational clients, with substantial amounts at issue and rapidly evolving issues related to planning, implementation, compliance, defense, dispute resolution, and policy,” said Thomas Linguanti, Chair of Baker & McKenzie’s North America Tax Practice. “With his deep experience serving as a go-to transfer pricing advisor to major multinationals, Shane will be an excellent addition to our practice.”
A significant part of Mr. Koball’s practice involves advising clients on supply chain planning and restructuring, leading multi-service line projects through feasibility, design and implementation. He has implemented principal company structures in Europe and Asia, which involved the development of transactional and transfer pricing models, assessment of potential exit taxes in multiple jurisdictions, financial models to estimate potential benefits, and detailed design of business processes to achieve appropriate substance from transfer pricing, subpart F, and local country perspectives.
He also has experience with developing operating manuals and business process maps, advising on ERP system blueprints, operationalizing transfer pricing policies, and working with financial controllers and others on implementing and monitoring their transfer pricing models.

Mr. Koball is the latest in a series of prominent hires for the Tax Practice in North America. Experienced transfer pricing attorney Barbara Mantegani joined in Washington, DC, renowned M&A lawyer Jerred Blanchard joined in Houston advising clients on a variety of complex international tax planning matters, and Daniel Rosen joined the Firm’s New York office from the IRS, continuing his practice in the area of tax controversy and litigation, and most recently leading transfer pricing economist Brian Cromwell re-joined the Firm’s Palo Office.
