Fox Rothschild has announced that experienced tax partner D. French Slaughter has joined the firm’s Washington, DC office as a partner in the Taxation and Wealth Planning Department.

“French’s addition is a strategic expansion of our tax and unclaimed property services to clients in the region and nationwide,” said Dirk D. Haire, Fox’s Washington, DC office managing partner. “French’s 20-plus years of experience handling a variety of tax policy, tax controversy and unclaimed property matters adds significant depth to the capabilities of our office and the practice.”

He has practised before the U.S. Tax Court and both federal and state trial and appellate courts. His clients include closely held businesses as well as Fortune 500 companies across a variety of industries including aerospace and defense, telecommunications and media.

Slaughter also has more than 20 years of experience assisting clients in unclaimed property matters including state contract audits, voluntary compliance, escheat litigation and state legislative reform efforts. He has been noted in The Wall Street Journal for his work defending Delaware-domiciled corporations under audit by the State of Delaware for unclaimed property liabilities.

Prior to joining Fox Rothschild, Slaughter was a partner at McGuireWoods LLP.
