Tax guru to the stars, Charles Lubar, joins MWE in London
McDermott Will & Emery has appointed Charles (Chuck) Lubar as senior counsel in its London Private Client group. He was formerly Managing Partner of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in London.
A long-time adviser to High Net Worth clients around the world, an experienced US tax lawyer (ex- Chief Counsel’s Office of the IRS) and one of the most senior U.S. lawyers in London, Mr. Lubar has extensive experience in handling all aspects of international tax and estate structuring and planning for individuals and their assets, as well as corporate and individual tax planning for international investments and cross-border family business matters. His international experience extends well beyond the United Kingdom and continental Europe and includes working with clients from Latin America, North Africa, the Middle East, Far East and the United States.
Mr. Lubar is particularly known for his significant experience in advising clients in the film, recording and publishing industries. He also has direct experience of working with major Latin American and other international performing artists on cross-border issues. In addition, he played a pivotal role in structuring the acquisition of the ATV music catalogue (which included the Beatles catalogue) for Michael Jackson and also structured the production of the Muppet Show in London.

Chuck has consistently been listed in the Euromoney Legal Media Group’s Guide to The World’s Leading Tax Advisors. He is a former Commission Member of the United Kingdom Fulbright Commission for over 11 years. He was President of the Yale Club of London for 13 years and sat on the alumni board of the University. As an active Harvard Law alumnus, Chuck was selected as a Harvard Law School Traphagen Distinguished speaker, where he discussed his career with current law students. In his spare time, Chuck remains active in many civic and charitable organisations and speaks some Russian and French.
