Johnston Carmichael announces two senior tax appointments
Johnston Carmichael has announced two key tax appointments to its senior team, effective from 1 December,.
Alex Docherty from the Edinburgh office and John McAuslin from Glasgow have both been promoted to the position of tax partner.
Alex joined Johnston Carmichael in 2012 from PwC. She has been involved in tax planning for owner managed businesses and high net worth individuals throughout her career to date, working for international accountancy firms.
Alex specialises in all aspects of private client tax and owner managed businesses, focusing on providing solutions for her clients through tax efficient structuring. In particular, income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax planning, succession strategies, partnership taxation, domicile & residence planning, and personal and trust taxation including trust accounting. Being brought up in a family business, Alex has a keen interest in family businesses and an insight into issues facing the family ‘firm’. Alex is Treasurer of the STEP Scotland Branch and also sits on their educational committee.
John joined Johnston Carmichael in 2013, also from PwC. His experience focuses on corporate tax, including mergers & acquisitions, structuring and group reorganisations, corporation tax compliance and corporate tax planning.
He has provided advice to a broad spectrum of clients from individual entrepreneurs, owner managed business, partnerships, co-operatives to large listed multinational groups.
