Vaughn Chown appointed Managing Partner at Gabelle, post acquisition
On 31 January 2017 Gabelle completed on a transaction that sees it merge its business with Abbey Tax, one of the UK’s leading tax fees insurers. The combination of the businesses creates the UK’s largest independent tax consultancy.
Vaughn Chown, a founding partner of Gabelle and Head of VAT, has been appointed Managing Partner for the Gabelle business. Vaughn succeeds Paula Tallon, who is temporarily moving to Australia for family reasons, though remains a Partner dealing with the strategy of the Gabelle business. Paula will continue to provide tax advice to clients in the UK and maintain existing client relationships.
Vaughn Chown joined Gabelle in 2011 and has 30 years professional experience with a specialism in VAT. He is a Chartered Tax Adviser and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Vaughn spent nine years as a senior officer with HMRC and regularly lectures and writes on all aspects of VAT.
Paula Tallon said, “I am delighted that Vaughn is succeeding me in managing the Gabelle business. We have worked together for a number of years and I’ve no doubt he will build on our success and take the business from strength to strength. I will continue to offer my support and be involved at a strategic level, with the intention of returning to the UK to lead the combined Gabelle and Abbey Tax consultancy services with Alison Lynch.”
Vaughn Chown comments, “It’s an exciting time to take on the Managing Partner role. Abbey Tax operates with values that match our own and the complementary nature of the two businesses will allow us to offer even greater depth of services and expertise to our clients. Paula will continue to advise our clients and will be an important part of our direct tax offering.”
