Richard Cartwright to head up Saffery’s Bristol office
Saffery Champness has announced that Richard Cartwright has taken on the role as head of the firm’s Bristol office. Richard takes over from incumbent David Lemon.
Richard joined Saffery Champness from PWC in 2002, becoming partner in 2007. He advises a broad range of clients from wealthy individuals, families and trustees of landed estates, to senior executives, professional partnerships and owner-managed businesses on a range of tax services.
A well-known figure in the industry both locally and nationally, Richard is a regular speaker at professional events addressing issues such as Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and the use of trusts as they relate to agricultural and rural businesses and their owners.
Richard’s appointment follows a period of significant growth for the Bristol team, and the firm’s South West operations more broadly, which has seen staff numbers double in three years. In addition to a broad range of accounting and tax services, Saffery Champness’s Bristol office provides market-leading expertise and knowledge in a number of areas specific to its diverse portfolio of clients.
The outgoing David Lemon will continue in his role as Partner with responsibility for the Southern Regional Group of offices and accordingly sits on the Management Board. Richard will continue to advise clients across the South West alongside his new duties as head of the Bristol office.
Rob Elliott, Managing Partner at Saffery Champness, commented:
“We are pleased to announce Richard’s appointment as head of our Bristol office. His promotion is a testament not only to his considerable experience and achievement over more than a decade with the firm, but also to our culture of nurturing and promoting talent. We look forward to his leadership further enhancing the flourishing Bristol office and our offering to clients in the region.”
Richard Cartwright added:
“It is a privilege to be able to serve as head of Saffery Champness’ Bristol office. Having been brought up in Devon and now living in Cornwall, the South West is close to my heart and it is immensely gratifying to see the ongoing success of the firm in the region. I am looking forward to helping the office unlock new opportunities and future growth, while continuing to deliver outstanding services to our clients.”
