Weaver appoints two new tax leaders

Weaver, the largest independent accounting firm in the Southwest with nine offices across the United States, announces the appointments of Robert Henry, CPA as the partner-in-charge of tax and strategic business services for the central Texas region and Mark Watson, CPA, CFP as the firm’s tax quality and risk management partner-in-charge.

Robert W. Henry, CPA

Partner-in-Charge, Central Texas Tax and Strategic Business Services

Robert Henry joined Weaver in 2012 bringing an extensive background in public accounting, including time at a Big Four firm. In this new role, Henry leads Weaver’s tax and strategic business services practice in central Texas, covering Austin and San Antonio. The foundation of his extensive career is assisting large and mid-size companies in the oil and gas, technology and manufacturing industries with income tax compliance, implementation of complex tax planning strategies and representation before the Internal Revenue Service. Additionally, he specializes in income tax issues associated with inventory valuation and the research and development tax credit.

A frequent, sought-after speaker, Henry provides valuable industry and technical insights to various professional audiences across the country. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and its San Antonio chapter. Henry earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in accounting from Trinity University.

M ark Watson, CPA, CFP

Partner-in-Charge, Tax Quality Control and Risk Management

Mark Watson joined Weaver in 2013 and has more than 25 years of experience providing tax compliance and consulting services to businesses, individuals, estates and trusts. In his new role, Watson leads Weaver’s Tax Quality Control and Risk Management department and is responsible for ensuring that Weaver’s tax services satisfy the standards established by the Internal Revenue Service, the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Watson is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and its Houston chapter. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and a Master of Science degree in accounting from Texas A&M University.
