Sarah Lane joins Burges Salmon’s corporate tax team
Sarah Lane will be joining Burges Salmon on 1 March 2018 as a partner in its Corporate Tax team
Sarah has extensive experience in tax within both legal and Big 4 firms, and her experience spans corporate and international tax with significant FS and M&A experience. She advises clients on a wide range of tax issues in finance and capital markets, funds, property and technology, and also deals with UK and international tax controversy. She has also worked over many years with The Treasury and HMRC on tax policy matters, and earlier in her career spent some years in academia with the University of Leeds.
Sarah comments: “I am greatly looking forward to joining the established Tax team at Burges Salmon and helping develop further the outstanding profile of the existing team. The complexity of UK and international tax issues, and the evolving approach of the tax authorities, have increased the demand from businesses and individuals across a range of sectors for quality specialist advice, to ensure compliance and appropriate implementation of commercial proposals and transactions.”
The reputation of Burges Salmon’s Tax team is reflected in its membership of national committees such as the Chartered Institute of Taxation Governing Council and Law Society Tax Law Committee. The team’s quality was further recognised at the Tolley’s Taxation Awards 2016/17, at which – against competition from both accountants and lawyers – it won the award for Best Team in a National Firm.
John Barnett, head of tax at Burges Salmon, says: “Sarah comes to the firm with a huge amount of experience and expertise in the area of tax, having worked in legal, accountancy and consultancy practices as well as in academia. We are all very much looking forward to Sarah joining the team, helping us to continue providing our clients with innovative solutions to complex tax law matters.”
