Alexander Lee bolsters Cooley tax team
Cooley is bolstering its global tax capabilities with the arrival of partner Alexander Lee. Lee is based in Los Angeles and joins from McDermott Will & Emery.
“Alexander’s deep knowledge of international transactional tax work further strengthens Cooley’s offerings for established industry giants and disruptive startups alike,” said Mike Lincoln, chair of Cooley’s global business department. “Alexander has the wealth of experience needed to meet increasingly complex tax demands on large, cross-border deals.”
With a focus on national and global transactional tax matters, Lee concentrates his practice on public and private mergers and acquisitions, lending, finance and capital markets. Lee is particularly experienced with leading cross‐border transactions and corporate transactions involving Asia-based companies, and has extensive experience managing global companies and startups through a variety of corporate and tax issues.
“Cooley is among the leading firms in the world when it comes to high-profile transactions with complex tax implications,” Lee said. “I am eager to pair this know-how with the firm’s uniquely collaborative culture to help deliver success for our clients in California and around the world.”
Lee is a frequent speaker on national and global tax matters at academic and professional organizations, including the American Management Association and the New York University Tax Institute. He received his JD from UCLA School of Law. Prior to McDermott, he was a partner at Paul Hastings.
Lee’s arrival follows that of David Wilson, a London-based corporate tax partner who joined Cooley in May.
