Yvette Chan to lead Asia M&A Tax Advisory Practice at Alvarez & Marsal
Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has appointed Yvette Chan to Managing Director, based in Hong Kong, to lead the Asia M&A Tax Advisory Practice within the firm’s Global Transaction Advisory Group. Ms. Chan’s appointment, along with the promotions of Richard Chen in Singapore and Colin Gater in Hong Kong to Managing Director, enables A&M to provide seamless cross-border transaction support to clients in Asia and further enhances the firm’s growing footprint and capabilities in the region.
Ms. Chan has more than 14 years of experience, of which the past 10 were advising clients in Asia on tax and regulatory issues related to the full range of domestic and cross-border transactions. She has advised on numerous mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, corporate restructurings and pre-initial public offering (IPO) restructuring projects in China and Hong Kong. She has deep expertise working with Chinese corporates, private equity funds and real estate firms on tax issues relating to their outbound investment in Japan, Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN), Australia, Europe, Israel, the U.S. and Brazil.
Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Chan was with KPMG in London and Hong Kong, where she most recently served as a Partner in the M&A Tax team in the Hong Kong office.
Mr. Chen specializes in accounting and financial analysis for both buy-side and sell-side transactions for private equity firms and strategic buyers. He has advised clients across multiple sectors including consumer goods and retail, industrial products and services, transportation and logistics, energy and resources, software and services, media and semiconductors.
Mr. Gater has extensive transaction advisory and business advisory experience across multiple industry sectors in Asia, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and North America.
