Nigel Popplewell moves from Burges Salmon to PKF Francis Clark
Chartered accountants and business advisers, PKF Francis Clark, has announced a new senior hire to further strengthen its tax offering.
Nigel Popplewell, a former partner at legal firm Burges Salmon, joins the tax advisory team specialising in stamp duty land tax. He will be taking on the role of senior tax consultant. Nigel also sits as a fee paid judge of the First Tier Tax Tribunal.
Nigel is a solicitor who has specialised in all aspects of tax law, both contentious and non-contentious for the past 30 years. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and a CEDR accredited mediator. Nigel is also a former Somerset cricketer, being a regular member of the team from 1980 to 1985 – scoring over 1,000 first-class runs in a season in 1984-85.
Nigel said: “PKF Francis Clark has a strong property tax team and I am thrilled to join that team and further develop the services we offer our clients. Part of my role will involve training and developing more junior members of the firm to build real strength and depth within the team and provide a first rate service to our clients.”
John Endacott, Head of Tax added: “We are delighted to have Nigel join our growing tax team and his experience and expertise will play a key role in providing specialist advice to our clients. It is an exciting time for the firm as we expand our team and recruit the best talent to meet the increasing demand for our services.”
PKF Francis Clark has been providing accountancy, taxation and business advice to private, corporate and professional clients for 100 years and has invested deeply in their tax offering over the past few years, a fact recently highlighted when they were awarded ‘Best Private Client Tax Team’ at Tolley’s Taxation Awards 2019.
