Taxand bolsters M&A tax capability with hire of Blagovest Petkov in NY
Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has announced that Blagovest Petkov has joined the firm as a Managing Partner with Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLC (A&M Taxand) in New York.
Mr. Petkov brings nearly 20 years of experience at Big Four firms representing private equity and multinational corporate clients on complex tax matters involving domestic and international M&A transactions. His addition signifies the latest significant step in the expansion of A&M Taxand’s capabilities and comes simultaneously with Marc Sanders, based in the Benelux, joining the firm to serve the Dutch market.

Mr. Petkov comes to A&M after seven years at Ernst & Young (E&Y), as a partner in the International Tax and Transaction Services group. While there, he led the relationships with some of the firm’s top private equity clients and oversaw the tax aspects and execution of every E&Y supported transaction globally. Prior to E&Y, Mr. Petkov spent nearly 12 years at Deloitte Tax LLP in the M&A tax practice, largely representing private equity clients on M&A transactional matters.

Mr. Petkov earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting and control and a Bachelor of International Tourism at the University of Economics in Varna, Bulgaria, and a Master of Accountancy with a concentration in taxation at The George Washington University. Mr. Petkov is licensed as a CPA in New York and Virginia.
