Sonia Gilbert succeeds Dan Neidle as London Head of Tax, Pensions, Employment and Incentives practice
Clifford Chance has announced that Sonia Gilbert has been appointed as the new London leader of the firm’s Tax, Pensions, Employment, and Incentives practice for a period of 4 years, from November 2021. She takes over the role from Dan Neidle.
Sonia advises companies across all sectors on remuneration and incentives, with a particular interest in remuneration design, governance and taxation. She has been a partner at Clifford Chance since 2011, having joined as a trainee in 1998, and has been an Incentives specialist since she qualified.
Sonia comments: “I am delighted to be asked to lead such a brilliant team. We have a fantastic practice in London, supporting clients on strategic advisory mandates and transformative transactions, with our work cutting to the heart of key issues such as governance, culture, employee retention and incentivising long-term, responsible business strategies.”
Outgoing leader Dan Neidle will retire from the Clifford Chance partnership in May 2022, continuing with the firm as Special Counsel. He adds: “I have been privileged to be a partner at Clifford Chance and to work with such a talented and dedicated group of colleagues and friends. It is a job that I love, but after almost 14 years as a partner the upheaval of the pandemic has led me to reassess my priorities.
“I feel the time is now right to pursue some of my wider interests and to spend more time with my family. I do so in the knowledge that we have an amazing tax team that will be bolstered by an impressive set of new tax partners in the next few years. And, as Special Counsel, I will always be available to provide them and their clients with help and support.”
