Rawlinson & Hunter appoints Alex Jones as a Partner in its US/UK tax team
Rawlinson & Hunter LLP has appointed Alex Jones as a partner in its US/UK Transatlantic Tax Team, with effect from 1 December 2021.
Alex, who joins from EY Frank Hirth, has over 30 years of experience in US and UK personal tax, providing complex planning and assistance to high-net-worth individuals.
Alex’s specialist areas include: private equity, hedge funds and real estate funds, personal tax issues related to fund structuring and reward, and specialist advice for entertainment and sports clients.
Alex’s wide experience and specialist knowledge also includes the UK/US double tax treaty, pension issues, the UK treatment of limited liability company (LLC) interests and carried interest. He also advises on US/UK interactions on personal income, capital gains, social security, estate taxes, inheritance and trusts.
Alex’s appointment signals the rapid expansion of R&H’s already well established US/ UK Transatlantic Tax Team led by Graeme Privett, and Alex’s remit will be to build on the team’s current success by growing it further by adding new clients and recruiting new team members.
Andrew Shilling, Managing Partner at Rawlinson & Hunter LLP, commented: “Alex’s considerable experience and skill will greatly enhance the strength we have in our US/ UK Transatlantic Tax Team. There has been a sharp increase in demand in recent years from our US clients in particular, for an integrated, transatlantic, tax advisory service, and Alex’s appointment will drive the Firm’s expansion into this rapidly growing and crucial area of our business.”
Alex added: “I am delighted to be joining Rawlinson & Hunter at this key time with taxes increasing in both countries, and the ever increasing complexity of their tax systems. R&H has been serving private clients and businesses for nearly 90 years, and I hope to bring the same ethos and expertise to UK and internationally based American tax clients.”
