The Brighton and Hove office of national accountancy firm UHY Hacker Young has expanded its tax practice with the appointment of new tax partner, Charlie Owen.

Charlie has over 20 years of experience as a tax specialist. He joins the firm from TC Group, a top 40 tax accountancy and advisory firm, where he spent the last three years as partner in its office in Steyning, outside Brighton. He joined TC Group when it merged with his previous firm, Russell New, where he was also a partner.

Charlie previously spent nine years at tax and business advisory firm Vista Partners, based in Redhill, Surrey.

Charlie specialises in advising on tax planning for individuals and owner-managed businesses. He has advised SME clients on all aspects of tax and compliance. He also advises entrepreneurs on their personal tax affairs.

David Guest, Senior Partner at UHY Hacker Young Brighton and Hove, says that Charlie has developed a strong reputation in the Sussex business community for his client focus, technical knowledge and commercial, pragmatic tax advice.

Says David Guest: “It is great to have Charlie on board. The wealth of experience he brings with him enhances our already strong tax offering here in Sussex and underlines our commitment to continue to provide our clients with high quality, practical tax advice.”

“We have admired Charlie’s work for a number of years – he has developed a strong following among businesses in Brighton and beyond. We’re looking forward to him bringing his skills to our firm.”

Charlie Owen said: “I am delighted to join David and his team. UHY Hacker Young’s strong and long-established national reputation speaks for itself and the firm’s ethos of working hard for its clients made joining them a very easy decision for me.”
