BDO Ireland appoints Derek Henry as Head of Tax
BDO in Ireland has announced the appointment of Derek Henry as its new Head of Tax. As Ireland’s tax practice leader, Derek’s new role will see him build on the success of the team to date and continue to respond to our clients needs across the tax service offering which includes Financial Services, Transfer Pricing, Customs and International Trade, R&D tax credits, Employment Taxes and Private Clients.
Derek has over 20 years’ experience as a tax advisor, specialising in corporate tax with a particular focus on commercial and residential property. He also has extensive experience in tax based corporate funding (EIIS), R&D tax credits and Intellectual Property Regimes.
Derek joined BDO in Ireland in 2006 as a Tax Manager before being selected to join the partnership in 2015. He is a Chartered Accountant and an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute. He holds a BA in Accounting and Finance, an MBS in Accounting from DCU and a Diploma in Legal Studies from the King’s Inns. He also has a certificate Real Estate Economics and Finance.
Derek succeeds Ciarán Medlar following 13 years in the role. Ciaran will continue in his role as Partner in charge of the Private Clients Tax practice.
