Lubbock Fine promotes private client tax expert David Portman to Partner
Lubbock Fine, chartered accountants and business advisors, have announced the promotion of private client tax specialist David Portman to Partner.
David’s career spans over 16 years of providing tailored tax solutions to high net worth individuals, including sports players, entertainers and tech entrepreneurs. He joined Lubbock Fine in 2016 from a mid tier accountancy firm in London.
David has extensive experience of advising on UK tax matters for non-domiciled individuals, including the transition to the UK’s new Foreign Income and Gains system from 2025. He focuses on helping these clients effectively manage their international tax affairs while safeguarding their family wealth. To achieve this David works closely with the overseas member firms of the Russell Bedford International network in order to provide a seamless cross border tax advisory and compliance service.
David also specialises in providing bespoke financial guidance to professional athletes. His advice often focuses on the transition from a relatively short, high-income playing career to a long, wealthy retirement or second career.
The sports and entertainment industries are a key focus for Lubbock Fine, with the firm providing a range of bespoke tax and accounting services for both individuals and businesses. These include tax services for internally mobile individuals with income from multiple countries.
Phil Blackburn, Senior Tax Partner at Lubbock Fine, says: “David has consistently delivered outstanding results for our clients over the past eight years. We are delighted to see him join the partnership.”
David Portman adds: “I’m excited to step into the role of partner and contribute to the continued growth and success of Lubbock Fine. The firm has some really fantastic clients and I am looking forward to continuing to work with them for many years to come.”
