BDO has appointed Adam Frais as the firm’s new Head of Tax, effective from 1 October 2024.

Adam will sit on the firm’s new Leadership Team, the membership of which was announced today, following the election of Mark Shaw as the UK firm’s Managing Partner. He will also chair the firm’s Tax Executive Committee.

He succeeds Andy Butterworth who will step down from his role as Head of Tax but will continue on the Leadership Team as Chief Operating Officer.

Frais first joined BDO as a trainee in 1991, working his way up to partner in 2001. To date, his client work has primarily focused on transactions and private equity.

Since 2016, he has led the firm’s London tax team. From October this year, he will take charge of BDO’s 1,000-strong national tax business which last year saw revenues grow by 13% to reach £225m.

Adam Frais, BDO’s new Head of Tax commented: “It’s exciting to take on this role at a time when our clients face so many varied challenges. New international tax and environmental obligations are placing new compliance pressures on businesses. Meanwhile, employers and private clients will have to adapt to tax changes introduced by the incoming Government.

“We will support our clients to navigate these changes, while also pressing the case for a simpler, more modern tax system which reduces administrative burdens and supports economic growth.”
