A&M Tax announces external hires in Germany and the Netherlands
Alvarez & Marsal Tax (A&M Tax) has announcesd the appointment of three Managing Directors to its offices in Germany and the Netherlands. The strategic hires further the ongoing expansion of A&M’s Tax practice across EMEA, which recorded 28% headcount growth in 2024.
- Tax specialists Anastasia Büttner (Operating Model) and Matthias Luther (Indirect Tax) join A&M in Düsseldorf and Hamburg, respectively
- Patrick Van Min brings more than 30 years’ experience of Dutch corporate income tax, international tax, and tax management to the practice in Amsterdam

A qualified lawyer, Mr. Luther specialises in indirect tax litigation, e-commerce and digital services taxes. High-profile cases include securing a €1.7 million VAT refund for a US-based multinational and a €2.5 million compliance and advisory contract for EMEA VAT reporting. Prior to joining A&M, he spent almost six years at EY, where he led the firm’s indirect tax practice for Northern Germany, as well as the global Digital Service Tax initiative. Mr. Luther is also Cofounder and Chair of the non-profit TeCIT Club, which fosters dialogue at the intersection of indirect tax, tax technology, and e-commerce.
Bringing more than 17 years’ experience in indirect tax, Ms. Büttner advises international businesses on how to improve the effectiveness of their operating models, with particular focus on supply chains and transactional set-up. She has advised on complex technical issues of indirect taxation that arise from the global structuring of business operations. She has led a number of projects in connection with business acquisitions and divestitures, digitalisation and metaverse adoption across business models and product portfolios, business transformations following the BEPS initiative of the OECD, and introduction of ESG considerations in the value chain. She supports clients across various sectors including consumer products, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, chemicals, industrials and energy. Ms. Büttner joins from EY, where she was a partner for eight years.
Mr. Van Min joins from Deloitte, where he spent over 22 years, most recently supporting large listed companies as a senior partner. Recognised for his expertise, he is a notable authority on sustainability in tax and plays an active role in the current Dutch and global tax debate.
