RSM UK strengthens its indirect tax team with a new head of VAT technology

 In RSM

RSM UK is enhancing its indirect tax team with the appointment of a new head of VAT technology, Adrian Steller. The appointment aligns with the firm’s drive to support an increasing number of clients to leverage their existing technology to deliver accurate indirect tax information and deliver practical solutions to their VAT determination and reporting needs.

Adrian has over two decades of experience in tax technology, working both in-house and as an external adviser. He most recently worked as an international tax technology director for Ryan, with his other previous roles in the indirect tax teams of Barclays Capital and T-Mobile along with a VAT advisory role in a Big Four firm.

At RSM, Adrian’s extensive experience in helping organisations to navigate complex VAT obligations, improve VAT determination and reporting processes, and leverage technology to enhance their VAT functions will bolster the firm’s ability to help clients prepare for compliance challenges. His role will focus on helping clients improve VAT determination accuracy and the systems that support it, building a stronger foundation for compliance and meeting new obligations such as the UK’s e-invoicing mandate, which comes into effect in 2029.

Adrian Steller, head of VAT technology at RSM UK, said: “Joining RSM offers a significant opportunity for me to help develop the firm’s VAT technology offering. The team’s focus on providing holistic support and building strong client relationships is something that really resonates with me. I look forward to playing a key role in supporting this, and I am excited to get stuck into new and demanding projects, where I can use my experience and expertise to help clients meet today’s evolving tax determination and reporting needs.”

Rowena Clifton, partner and Head of Indirect Tax, RSM UK, said: “Adrian’s knowledge of the VAT technology landscape, alongside his hands-on experience both in-house and as an adviser, marks a real coup for our indirect tax services offering. We are seeing a growing focus from tax authorities globally on securing improved transparency and regulatory compliance through sophisticated technology solutions. We expect that the UK will follow this trend and Adrian’s appointment will significantly strengthen our capabilities for responding to these challenges.”
