David Ward and Richard Britten promoted to tax partner group at Johnston Carmichael
Johnston Carmichael has added six new partners across its Scottish practice with effect from 1st June.
David Ward is a partner in the corporate tax team and also leads the Johnston Carmichael innovation taxes team. He specialises in R&D tax reliefs. David has made successful claims for companies in food and drink, life sciences, sports science, sports apparel, IT software and hardware, healthcare, advanced engineering, engineering consultancy, agriculture and manufacturing. He has led successful negotiations with HM Revenue and Customs and has also reviewed R&D claims for prospective purchasers as part of the financial due diligence process.
David is a qualified lawyer, a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CTA) and has a first-class honours degree in molecular biology.
David is based in Johnston Carmichael’s Edinburgh office but works across the network. He joined in 2014 from Norton Rose Fulbright in London, where he had worked for 11 years, primarily specialising in corporate tax.
Richard Britten is based in the Aberdeen office with more than twenty years experience.
He specialises in providing employer tax solutions both in the UK and internationally. Advising clients on tax policy issues and implementation of expatriate tax programs. Based in Aberdeen and serving the whole of the national practice my work involves guiding companies in oil and energy and other industries including compliance, payroll support and wider employer and IHR requirements.
The promotions bring the total number of partners at Johnston Carmichael to 56.
