Barclays Wealth appoints Bakers partner, Jonathan Burt, as Senior Wealth adviser

Barclays Wealth has announced the appointment of Jonathan Burt as a Senior Wealth Adviser in its Wealth Advisory team. Mr Burt will report to Jeremy Arnold, Head of the Wealth Advisory business. He will join the business in January 2008.

Mr Burt’s is a newly created role which will see him work closely with Jeremy Arnold in continuing the development of the Wealth Advisory business which was established last year from Barclays Wealth’s existing Wealth Structuring and Trust and Estates businesses. The business acquired Walbrook Group in May 2007. Based in London, Mr Burt will co-ordinate clients’ diverse and complex wealth advisory needs across estate planning and trusts. He will also work closely with intermediaries as well as private bankers and risk and structuring teams across Barclays Capital and Barclays Wealth.

Mr Burt joins Barclays Wealth from Baker & McKenzie LLP where he was a Partner and has worked for the past seven years in their Private Banking department in London. At Baker & McKenzie, Mr Burt advised high net worth individuals, trustees and private banks on a range of issues including cross-border taxation, creation and taxation of trusts, investment taxation and multi-jurisdictional estate planning. Prior to that, Mr Burt worked at Withers LLP as a Solicitor. Mr Burt is a member of STEP’s Technical Committee and was awarded a place in the Citywealth 2006 and 2007 Top 100 Wealth Advisers lists. Mr Burt studied at Guildford College of Law and holds a First Class BA Honours in History from the University of York.
