Gaetano Salvioli joins Bird & Bird as the new Head of Tax (Italy)
Bird & Bird LLP has hired Gaetano Salvioli as a partner in the Milan office and the new Head of Tax (Italy).
With more than 25 years’ experience, Gaetano joins from well-ranked boutique Italian firm Giovannelli e Associati where he was a tax partner. Before this, he spent more than 13 years as an associate at Andersen and Deloitte.
He advises on tax and accounting matters and regularly assists both domestic and international clients on corporate and group taxation, reorganisations and acquisitions. He also advises on tax audits and deals with tax authorities as well as litigation.
Gaetano will head the tax practice in Milan and also manage the existing, specialist transfer pricing team. This team deals with issues in connection to transfer pricing policies of multinational groups, with relevant experience in the field of international ruling, patent box and instances for the activation of MAP and European arbitration procedures. This offers clients a rare combination of both IP and transfer pricing ability under one roof.
Joining with Gaetano is associate Dario D’Alò, also from Giovannelli e Associati.
Giovanni Galimberti, Co-head of Bird & Bird Italy says: “It’s wonderful to welcome Gaetano to Bird & Bird. Many of our Italian team have known Gaetano for a long time and think very highly of him, so he is a natural fit for the firm. I look forward to working with him.”
Mathew Oliver, Head of International Tax Group at Bird & Bird says: “Gaetano’s technical skills and expertise in the Italian tax market are well recognised. His appointment is a strategic move to bolster our Italian tax capabilities and further the development of the tax practice internationally.”
