Marissa Rensen joins Washington National Tax practice of KPMG

Marissa Rensen has joined the international tax group of the Washington National Tax practice of KPMG LLP as a managing director based in Washington, D.C. In this role, she will help clients navigate the complicated interactions between U.S. international tax rules and evolving global reforms so that they can better manage their operations.

Marissa has nearly 15 years of experience handling a variety of tax issues. In her previous role as Special Counsel in the IRS Office of Associate Chief Counsel, International, she was a primary drafter of the Foreign Derived Intangible Income (FDII) provision and developed guidance related to the Base Erosion and Anti-Abuse Tax (BEAT). She also advised the Deputy Associate Chief Counsel, Technical, International, on guidance matters particularly relating to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and advised the Deputy Associate Chief Counsel, Field Service and Litigation, International, on transfer pricing controversy matters.

Prior to her time with the IRS, Marissa served as an attorney with Mayer Brown LLP where she advised clients on a variety of tax issues, including transfer pricing and advance pricing agreements.

Marissa earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond, her J.D. from Tulane Law School and her LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.
