Norr acquires tax practice of Dusseldorf law firm

In Norr Stiefenhofer Lutz, Schmidt Schuran & Partner, team moves
[private]The entire tax team of the highly regarded Düsseldorf tax firm Schmidt, Schuran & Partner joins Nörr Stiefenhofer Lutz. From 1 May, Dr. Lutz Schmidt (46), Dr. Carsten Heinz (36), Ansgar Koetz (39) and Lutz Enno Werner (38) will change to the Düsseldorf office of Nörr. Schmidt will become an equity partner, his three colleagues will be salary partners, called by Nörr, for legal reasons, Senior Professionals. The associate, Björn Kreimer (33), will join the move with the others.

Nörr’s tax practice is strengthened by this development particularly in the areas of tax structuring and private clients. “These are both areas in which we already have a good name on the market“, said Georg Edelmann, Co-head of tax at Nörr. “Lutz Schmidt’s team, with a client base from the higher mid-range to international groups, is an ideal addition“.

Nörr expanded financial advisory services, company valuations and balance sheet structuring in transactions only at the beginning of this year with the promotion of Oliver Schließer to partner (cf. press release of 12 January). The firm now has 14 partners (equity and salary), 1 Senior Counsel and 20 associates in tax and financial advisory services in Germany. There are also 40 tax experts in the Central and Eastern European offices.

“We pursue our strategic objectives, even in difficult times” said Dr. Dieter Schenk, Co-speaker at Nörr. That applies particularly to expansion in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. “Our clients value this approach as an expression of sustained partnership and reliability”, continued Schenk.

With the new arrivals, the Düsseldorf office grows to 40 professionals. Other offices have so far assisted in the provision of tax advice there. “We are now better positioned for advice in high-end business with transactions and restructuring” said Gregor Barbers, head of Nörr’s Düsseldorf office.[/private]
