Jack Van Coevering Joins Miller Canfield
The law firm of Miller Canfield has announced that Jack Van Coevering has joined the firm as senior counsel in [private]the Grand Rapids and Lansing, Michigan offices specializing in state and local tax litigation and dispute resolution.
Van Coevering brings with him a wealth of state and local tax experience. He has 15 years of tax experience in state and local tax litigation. In addition to providing legal counsel, he has served as the Chief Judge of Michigan’s Tax Tribunal, presiding over a number of property and business tax cases from 2003-2007; head of the legal division and administrative hearings division of the Michigan Department of Treasury; legal advisor to former Revenue Commissioners and State Treasurers; and as assistant attorney general in the Revenue Division litigating state and local tax cases in Michigan’s trial and appellate courts. He has worked with a number of business-government advisory, intragovernment, and legislative groups, as well as multi-state organizations.
He is a member of the American Bar Association Taxation Section and the State Bar of Michigan Taxation Section and Real Property Law Section.
Van Coevering received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and his B.A. from Calvin College. [/private]
