Ms. Wilson was a partner at McDermott from 2003 to 2006. She rejoins McDermott from Verizon Communications where she served as associate general counsel, heading up the state and local tax counsel function. Both at Verizon and in her prior practice at McDermott, Ms. Wilson assisted in managing audits, directed controversy and litigation strategies and defenses, advised on tax planning, and assisted with FIN 48 analyses. Additionally, Ms. Wilson analyzed the state and local tax aspects of reorganizations as well as mergers and acquisitions.
Ms. Wilson is a co-author of the Sales Tax and Corporation Business Tax chapters of the New Jersey Tax Handbook and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Multistate Taxation and Incentives. She has published articles in that publication, as well as State Tax Notes, The Tax Lawyer (ABA), The State and Local Tax Lawyer (ABA), the Multistate Tax Report (BNA) and The Tax Executive (TEI), among others. Ms. Wilson frequently speaks on taxation topics for groups such as the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, the Council on State Taxation, the Tax Executives Institute, the New Jersey State Bar Association and various CPA organizations.
Ms. Wilson is on the Board of Governors of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation. She also served as a vice-chair of the ABA State and Local Tax Committee, the chair of the Taxation Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, and a member of the taxation committee for the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Wilson earned her LL.M. from New York University School of Law, her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School, and her B.A., with honors, in biology from the University of Michigan. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.[/private]
