Former Head of HMRC’s expatriate services joins Deloitte
Deloitte, the business advisory firm, has today announced the appointment of expatriate services expert, [private]Martin Dwyer. Martin joins as a director within the firm’s global employer services group following a 35-year career at HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
Martin was the former head of HMRC’s expatriate employer compliance unit and senior operational adviser to the HMRC expatriate forum. He is reunited at Deloitte with three former HMRC expatriate specialists: Harvey Smith, Jason Mather and Rob Pearce giving the firm a unique insight into HMRC’s approach to expatriate taxation.
Robert Hodkinson, international assignment services leader at Deloitte, says: “We are delighted to welcome Martin Dwyer to the firm. His vast knowledge and intimate understanding of compliance with HMRC’s expatriate policy will be a great asset to our clients.
“This group of former HMRC specialists, now joined by Martin, have in excess of 50 years valuable experience in directing, leading and concluding HMRC expatriate enquiries, and provide Deloitte with a unique insight into HMRC’s strategic approach to expatriate taxation, risk assessment, case selection and the intervention process.”
Martin Dwyer comments: “As a team, we will be able to assist clients in all aspects of expatriate enquiry handling, for example employer compliance reviews by HMRC. We will also be able to aid companies in reducing the possibility of HMRC employer interventions by assessing their exposure to risks, and focusing on potential areas of weakness in processes and systems that are subject to the recently introduced Senior Accounting Officer regulations.”[/private]
