Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer appoints Miguel Klingenberg as managing partner of its Spanish offices
International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed Miguel Klingenberg as the new managing partner of its Spanish offices from 1 August 2006. He will take over from John Byrne, who has held the role for 15 years, since the firm opened its first Spanish office in Madrid in 1991.
Miguel Klingenberg is currently head of the tax department in Spain. Before joining Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as a partner in 1998 he was one of the founding partners of Hervada & Klingenberg.
He is an expert in Spanish and international tax law. He has advised on the tax aspects of numerous transactions relating to acquisitions, reorganisations and sales of listed and non-listed companies, real estate, asset financing, structured debt issuances, securitisation, structured products, and derivatives.
Miguel Klingenberg has a Law and Business Administration degree from ICADE and is a member of the Spanish Association of Financial Law and the International Fiscal Association.
