Stephen Liberman new treasurer at United Airlines
UAL Corporation, the holding company whose primary subsidiary is United Airlines, has named Kathryn Mikells as vice president of financial planning and analysis, and appointed Stephen Lieberman to succeed her as vice president and treasurer.
Lieberman joins United from General Motors Corporation, where he most recently was finance director, vehicle incentives. Lieberman has held a number of finance, controller and treasury positions at General Motors, including serving as the treasurer and controller general of General Motors de Mexico, and the treasurer, Asia Pacific Treasury Center – Beijing, responsible for General Motors’ treasury operation in China and Hong Kong. He began his career with General Motors at the New York Treasurer’s Office followed by an assignment at the treasury center in Singapore.
In his new role at United, Lieberman will be responsible for United’s treasury department, including corporate finance, risk management, cash management, insurance and corporate tax. He also will oversee all capital market financing activities and manage the company’s relationships with commercial and investment banks, supplier financing groups and ratings agencies as well as all hedging programs, insurance functions and tax activities. He will report to Brace.
