Johannes Frey joins Skadden Arps as a partner in the German tax practice
Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP has announced that Johannes Frey will join the firm as a partner in the German tax practice. Mr. Frey brings significant experience in all types of corporate tax matters, including acquisitions, spin-offs, joint ventures, restructurings and transactions involving cross-border tax planning.
Mr. Frey is listed as a leading lawyer in JUVE Wirtschaftskanzleien, Chambers Global and Chambers Europe. His arrival follows that of highly lauded capital markets partners Stephan Hutter and Katja Kaulamo, who joined the firm’s German practice earlier in 2012 to enhance its capital markets and finance practices across Europe, with a focus on Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Nordic region.
Skadden’s European partner-in-charge, Bruce Buck, said, “Johannes is very well-connected in the marketplace, and his broad skill-set will significantly strengthen our existing client offerings in Germany.”
In addition, partner Dr. Bernd Mayer has been appointed as Skadden’s German practice leader. Dr. Mayer has extensive experience advising clients on corporate transactions, corporate governance and investigations. He played a leading role in advising Daimler AG regarding SEC investigations into the alleged infringement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
