Jill Harding and Michael Stenftenagel Join Alvarez & Marsal as Managing Directors
Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLC, a founding member of the first global organization of the world’s leading independent tax firms, announced that Jill Harding and Michael Stenftenagel have joined the firm as Managing Directors based in San Francisco and Houston, respectively.
With an extensive background in mergers and acquisitions tax experience serving Fortune 500 corporations, Ms. Harding addresses complex transaction tax issues for clients in the computer hardware, software, semiconductor and e-commerce technology industry sectors, as well as pharmaceutical and biotech industry sectors. She joins from Ernst & Young, where she was part of the firm’s national tax office in Washington, D.C., and transaction advisory services group in San Jose, CA. At A&M Taxand, she will advise U.S. multinational corporate clients, as well as mid-market private equity firms in end-to-end buy-side and sell-side transaction tax services, including: acquisition structuring, tax due diligence, post-acquisition integration, legal entity rationalization, consolidated return issues, internal restructuring, cash repatriation planning, debt restructuring, spin-offs and carve-out planning.
Mr. Stenftenagel brings 15 years of experience in tax technology solutions for income tax provision and compliance, ASC 740, U.S. and state compliance and tax function process improvement, having served clients in a variety of industries, including energy, manufacturing, telecommunications, insurance, banking and healthcare. Prior to joining A&M Taxand, he led the Tax Services group at Sirius Solutions, providing ASC 740, tax technology, federal and state compliance and fixed asset services. Before that, he was with a global oil field service provider, where he was responsible for U.S. and foreign compliance, accounting for income taxes, transfer pricing and planning. In his new role, he will work with clients to assess tax technology that best suits their business needs, while also advising on implementation to help improve performance and support long-term growth.

Ms. Harding earned a juris doctor degree from Michigan State University and a master of law degree from New York University. She is a member of the Pennsylvania bar and has been a speaker on various panels for the Tax Executives Institute. A graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Stenftenagel holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix, is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Texas, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA) and the Association for Computers and Taxation (ACT).
