A personal tax manager has a substantial amount of responsibility, both in terms of managing relationships with smaller clients and in terms of managing and reviewing the work of more junior staff. As a personal tax manager there is often a need to develop junior staff, which requires non technical skills.
Personal Tax Manager:
In terms of the the nature of the work, it can comprise tax compliance, tax planning, UK tax and sometimes international tax. As a general rule the role will focus on just UK tax compliance. If you were wanting to do international personal tax work then you should probably be searching for an expatriate tax manager role. If you are working in house as a personal tax manager or with a smaller firm then it is likely that the job will be broader. For example it may include some payroll work, basic accounting, advice on dividend planning and other taxes like VAT, CGT and stamp duty.
