MWE recruits private client litigator, Christen Douglas, from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman
McDermott Will & Emery announced today that Christen Douglas has joined the Firm’s Private Client Group as a partner in the New York office. She was previously a senior associate at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.
Ms. Douglas’s practice includes trust and estate planning, administration and litigation. She counsels individuals and families with respect to estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer taxation, family business succession and philanthropic planning. She also works closely with individual and corporate fiduciaries in administering trusts and estates.
Ms. Douglas began her legal career as a litigator in Los Angeles and brings a valuable perspective to private client controversies by understanding both the highly technical aspects of estate and tax planning as well as winning courtroom litigation strategies. Her litigation experience enables her to help clients avoid potential issues and ambiguities in their estate plans that might otherwise lead to costly litigation.
“We are delighted to welcome Christen to the Firm,” said Carol Harrington, partner and global head of McDermott’s Private Client Practice Group. “Our private clients are affluent individuals and families with complex challenges requiring sophisticated and experienced advisers. Christen’s experience representing high net worth individuals in civil disputes gives her a broad view of today’s legal challenges impacting clients’ estates. Her unique combination of litigation and private client experience will add a depth of knowledge and bench strength to what is already a world-class private client team.”
Ms. Douglas received her LL.M. from New York University School of Law in 2011 and her J.D. from University of Virginia School of Law in 2007. She earned her B.A. from Princeton University in 2004. She is admitted to practice in New York, Pennsylvania and California.
McDermott’s Private Client Practice Group represents high-net-worth individuals, families and closely held businesses with an extraordinary focus on the client’s specific, unique objectives.
