Benesh to lead Grant Thornton US Compensation and Benefits practice
Bruce Benesh will lead Grant Thornton LLP’s Compensation and Benefits practice area within the firm’s Strategic Federal Tax Services group. Under Benesh’s direction, the Compensation and Benefits practice will continue to expand its compensation planning, benefits consulting and general human resources consulting services.
“Grant Thornton is excited to have Bruce lead our significant growth plans for this practice. We believe this is an area of great interest and value to our clients. Bruce’s prior experience with growing and managing a similar group at Arthur Andersen will allow us to further expand this practice and bring a broader and deeper skill set to our clients,” says Allen Wilson, national managing partner of the firm’s Strategic Federal Tax Services.
Grant Thornton’s Compensation and Benefits practice develops compensation, benefits and human resource programs that link companies’ people and business strategies. The practice’s primary focus is on consulting with mid-cap, small-cap and privately held companies in delivering customized compensation and benefit strategies while focusing on human resource cost savings and risk management.
“The group’s focus is responding to the broad spectrum of revisions in accounting and tax rules, such as the sweeping changes in the area of long-term incentive plans, as well as the ability of companies to align the effectiveness of their people with their pay plans and business goals,” said Benesh.
Benesh brings more than 25 years of experience in executive compensation, tax planning relating to compensation arrangements, and human resource consulting. Since joining the firm in 2005, he has served as a partner in Grant Thornton’s Strategic Federal Tax Services group. Prior to working at Grant Thornton, he was partner-in-charge of Arthur Andersen’s North American and Latin American Human Capital Practice and the divisional president of a compensation consulting practice for a publicly traded company.
Benesh holds a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from Hendrix College and a master’s degree in accountancy with an emphasis in taxation from the University of Oklahoma. He is a certified public accountant in South Carolina and a member of both national and state organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
“This is an exciting time for Grant Thornton as we continue to expand our value-added services to meet the needs of our clients through a cross-disciplinary analysis of tax, accounting, compensation, benefits and human resource strategies,” concluded Benesh.
