Hal Hicks to leave IRS and join Skadden Arps
This is an excerpt from the Daily Tax Report dated 22nd January.
“Treasury International Tax Counsel Hal Hicks said he will leave his post Feb. 6 to become a partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, a prominent Washington, D.C. law firm.
He said his farewells at the mid-year meeting of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation.
Hicks is the first official ever to serve as the Internal Revenue Service Associate Chief Counsel (International) and then move immediately to the top international tax spot at Treasury.”

ITR definitely got this story first, in an exclusive interview with Hal. BNA broke the news some days later.
What is suprising is that neither the IRS nor Skadden Arps have, as yet, issues formal press releases. Also no word in the major newspapers or financial journals. Very strange.
