Menzies appoints new VAT Director, Jackie Richmond
Menzies, a Top 25 UK Accountancy Firm, has appointed a new VAT Director. Jackie Richmond will be responsible for leading and developing the firm’s indirect tax services for owner managed businesses, with a remit that includes advice on VAT, Custom’s duties and environmental taxes.
Jackie joins Menzies with more than 10 years’ experience of providing indirect tax advice at Deloitte’s. During the last four years she has been jointly managing a team of 11 indirect tax specialists, providing advice to an extensive range of private and public sector clients based in the UK and overseas.
“VAT advice is essential to day-to-day business activities,” said Richmond. “Whether it’s property transactions, company reorganisations or general trade, it affects the profit margins of the business and therefore the bottom line. Unfortunately, many owner managed businesses do not have the luxury of in-house resources to be able to focus on VAT planning, and as a consequence opportunities can be missed.”
“Menzies offers a proactive team of advisers, with many years’ experience in helping clients reduce VAT assessments and minimise VAT liabilities. The firm has the resources and proven expertise that owner managed businesses need. What particularly attracted me to the firm is that Menzies also recognises the advantages to building those resources and services further to meet increasing demand.”
She will be responsible for formulating the firm’s strategy on indirect tax and growing the existing team to meet the firm’s full potential in tax services.
Mike Sands, Senior Partner at Menzies, said: “This is a significant appointment for us. We are always looking at ways to adapt and improve on the delivery of services to our clients. Jackie’s abilities and experience will strengthen our tax team, which is already one of the strongest in the South East.”
Jackie Richmond’s appointment comes at a time of sustained growth for the firm. Last year Menzies’ turnover increased to over £30 million. The firm’s growth and service offering has made it one of the UK’s leading business advisers to the owner managed business sector.
