Chris Lallemand joins Smith & Williamson’s National Tax team
Smith & Williamson has appointed Chris Lallemand as a consultant within the firm’s growing National Tax team.
Chris specialises in business and property taxes, including corporation tax, VAT, employment taxes and indirect taxes. His arrival complements the recent appointment of National Tax consultant Lynnette Bober, a private client tax and trusts specialist.
Chris said: “Limited government resources, uncertainty in the practical application of tax rules and the influence of outside bodies, such as the European Union, have put increasing pressure on the UK tax system.
“A more open, transparent and inclusive approach, along with some long-term planning, is necessary to ensure we have an appropriate tax administration system for the 21st century.
“Given this backdrop, to work for a firm with Smith & Williamson’s reputation and to have the opportunity to make a very real contribution to the way our clients operate is an exciting prospect.”
Richard Mannion, head of the National Tax function, said: “I’m delighted that Chris has joined the team. His technical expertise on corporation tax issues will be of tremendous benefit to our clients.”
Chris is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a Chartered Tax Adviser. He sits on the Chartered Institute of Tax’s (CIOT) Property Tax Technical Sub-Committee and its Membership Committee. He is co-Chairman of the Commerce and Industry Group and a past Chairman of the London branch of the CIOT.
He has contributed articles to both Tax Adviser and Taxation magazines.
