Boodle Hatfield strengthens private client team with former LG partner Karen Marks
Private client law firm Boodle Hatfield has strengthened its international private client practice with the appointment of Karen Marks, who was a partner in the tax and private capital team at LG.
Karen, who joined Boodle Hatfield on 18 August as a partner, brings considerable experience and expertise in international tax and trust planning, acting for a broad range of clients including offshore trustees, private banks and financial institutions, entrepreneurs and investment bankers.
She is recognised for her wide experience in advising on offshore structures, including trusts, and their underlying investments particularly for holding art and UK property. She provides international tax advice on leaving and taking up residence in the UK; on US/UK tax planning matters; and on investment products.
Commenting on Karen’s appointment Sue Laing, the head of Boodle Hatfield’s tax and private client practice, said: “We are very excited by Karen’s decision to join Boodle Hatfield. She has a terrific track record at LG and is well respected for her expertise in international tax planning matters. Karen adds a further dimension to the firm’s international private client tax planning capabilities and we look forward to the contribution that she will make.”
Karen Marks adds: “Boodle Hatfield’s private client department has a first class reputation and a client base to match. I am very much looking forward to working with Sue and the Boodle Hatfield tax and private client team.”
Karen joined LG (formerly known as Lawrence Graham) in 1999 and was promoted to the partnership in May 2003. She has been an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (ATII) since 1998 and she is a member of the International Tax Planning Association.
