Clifford Chance hires another tax litigator into HK office
Commercial litigator Elaine Chen has joined leading international law firm Clifford Chance as a partner.
She joins the region’s strongest litigation team – augmented by the arrival of partner Brian Gilchrist in May 2008.
“Elaine has a strong reputation in Hong Kong as a commercial and contentious tax litigator, and we are delighted to welcome her to our team,” said Martin Rogers, Clifford Chance’s Head of Litigation and Dispute Resolution for Asia.
“She and Brian Gilchrist have worked together for over ten years and have proved that they are a formidable team. Together, they will enable us to develop Clifford Chance’s Hong Kong corporate and tax litigation practice, boosting our regional team and complementing our existing strengths in financial services and regulatory litigation.”
A native of Hong Kong, Elaine Chen graduated LLB from the University of Bristol in 1996 and completed her PCLL in Hong Kong in 1997. In 2004, she received an LLM from the University of London. She joined Hong Kong firm Johnson Stokes & Master in 1997 (now Mayer Brown JSM), becoming a partner in 2006. She is qualified in England & Wales and Hong Kong.
