Michael Faber joins Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati from Heller Ehrman

Faber has joined the firm as a new partner in its tax practice. The former chair of Heller Ehrman’s tax department, Faber has nearly 30 years of experience as a tax attorney, including advising on general corporate and partnership tax issues, and has significant expertise in the clean technology industry. Faber has broad experience in federal and state taxation, including both planning and resolving controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and state tax authorities. He works on the tax aspects of a variety of business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and other significant deals. He also represents corporations, partnerships, and other pass-through entities, and increasingly has focused on representing clean technology companies in renewable energy projects.
Faber received his J.D. from the McGeorge School of Law in 1978, earned his LL.M. in taxation from the New York University School of Law in 1979, and received his B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1975. Before going into private practice, Faber clerked for the Honorable Leo H. Irwin of the U.S. Tax Court, where he is currently a member.
