IRS names Curtis G. Wilson as Associate Chief Counsel
The Internal Revenue Service announced the appointment of Curtis G. Wilson to the position of Associate Chief Counsel (Passthroughs and Special Industries).
“Curt Wilson will bring a wealth of leadership skills to the job,” said IRS Chief Counsel Don Korb. “Mr. Wilson has been with the Office of Chief Counsel for 25 years and is a testament to the office’s ability to grow executives from within.”
The Associate Chief Counsel (PSI) provides legal advice on a wide variety of issues, including partnerships, S corporations, trusts, estate and gift taxation, energy taxation, excise taxes, low income housing, domestic production deductions, the research credit and tax shelters.
Wilson succeeds William O’Shea, who recently retired.
Wilson graduated with a B.A. from Augustana College in 1974, received his J.D. from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 1977 and an L.L.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University in 1988.
Before joining the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in 1983, Wilson worked in private practice and with the South Dakota attorney general’s office. In 1996 he was promoted to Deputy Assistant Chief Counsel of Field Service and thereafter served a variety of executive positions in the Office of Chief Counsel. Most recently, Wilson was the Deputy Associate Chief Counsel (PSI).
