8 New Tax Partners and 6 Associate Tax Partners at Deloitte UK
Deloitte UK has announced a number of senior appointments within its tax practice, with the promotion of eight senior tax specialists to partner, and six to associate partner.

There have been eight promotions to partner:
Richard Day – a member of the Global Employer Services team with over 13 years experience, Richard specialises in compensation and tax planning for multinational companies with international transferees. He has extensive experience of working with a wide range of global expatriate populations in a diverse array of sectors and has specialist experience of assisting companies with both UK and US tax advice. Richard joined Deloitte in 2002 and is based in the Birmingham office.
Helen Devenney – based in London, Helen is an indirect tax expert who has extensive experience of working with clients in both the energy, infrastructure and utilities sector and in the public sector. As well as advising on VAT, Helen assists organisations with Climate Change Levy, Landfill Tax and Aggregates Levy issues. She also chairs the Chartered Institute of Taxation’s Environmental Taxes group. Helen joined Deloitte in 2002.
Myles Duckworth – Myles is an entrepreneurial indirect tax specialist with a particular focus on the real estate and manufacturing sectors. He also has deep industry expertise in the contract catering sector. Myles is based in Liverpool and works with clients across the North West. He becomes the second partner in Deloitte’s fast-growing North West indirect tax practice.
Tim Haden – based in London, Tim is an international corporate tax specialist. His particular expertise lies in providing outbound tax advice to UK-based multinationals primarily those within the FTSE350 market. A graduate of Oxford University, Tim is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and an associate member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers. Tim has been with Deloitte for 10 years.
Nick Marsden – an international and corporate tax specialist. He is a member of the inbound tax competency leadership team and advises UK companies and groups that are owned by foreign parented companies, particularly US and European inbounds. Nick joined Deloitte in 2002 and is based in Leeds.
Ben Moseley – based in Manchester, Ben is a corporate tax specialist and leads Deloitte’s tax treasury team outside London. Ben started his career in audit before specialising in corporate tax in 2001. He joined Deloitte in 2002.
Ben Powell – based in Reading, Ben is one of three partners that lead Deloitte’s indirect tax practice in the South East. His key areas of expertise are in the consumer business, automotive sectors, as well as the public sector, where he leads the UK’s Local Government tax team. He has been with the UK firm for 10 years, having originally transferred from Sydney. Ben is ATT and CTA qualified and his key clients include a number of large multi-national companies, as well as number of UK local authorities and NHS health trusts.
Guy Seeger – a specialist in international personal tax and advises multinational employers on all areas of global mobility. Guy has substantial experience of cross-border employee tax planning and compliance for both financial services and media organisations, focussing on cost and risk minimisation. A modern linguist graduate of Oxford University, Guy is a member of the Chartered Institute of Tax. Based in London, he joined Deloitte in 2002.
In addition, six tax specialists have been promoted to associate partner. They are:
Jason Craig – an indirect tax specialist who advises many of the leading UK retailers on VAT matters. Jason also has extensive experience of working with international businesses having spent a number of years in the US and maintains close relationships with a number of global strategic businesses. Jason will be responsible for continuing to develop Deloitte’s consumer business and international practices. Jason is ACA and CTA qualified.
Colin Hailey – an entrepreneurial tax specialist with a focus on the owner-managed, technology and life science sectors. Colin advises businesses on the complex interaction of corporate and personal taxes with particular focus on fundraising, R&D tax credits, re-organisations, acquisitions and disposals. He also sits on the Finance and Taxation Committee of the BioIndustry Association and is currently involved with the Government’s Office of Life Sciences led by Lord Drayson. Colin joined Deloitte in 2002 and is based in Cambridge.
Sam Hart – an employer and personal tax specialist with a focus on private clients, entrepreneurs and professional practices in the South West of England. Sam is qualified both as a chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser and has 18 years experience, having practised in both audit and tax. Based in Bristol, Sam joined Deloitte in 2005.
Sue Holmes – a corporate tax specialist based in Leeds, Sue leads the Financial Services tax practice in the North advising on a wide variety of tax issues for retail banks, building societies, insurers and investment and wealth management businesses. Sue joined Deloitte in 2002 and has 13 years experience in corporation tax. She is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Tax Advisor and a member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.
Roger Horwood – works in the International Tax group in London, leading a number of major client accounts across all tax service lines and with an integral role in the group’s go-to-market strategy. As an international corporate tax specialist, he has advised on numerous high-value transactions and restructurings. His predominant industry focus areas are in the IT, media and entertainment and healthcare sectors. A graduate of Cambridge University, Roger joined Deloitte in 2004.
Richard Turner – a tax specialist based in Southampton advising a range of clients from early stage technology companies to major international groups listed on the London Stock Exchange. Richard is also a senior member of the UK Life Science team. He is leading a project to advise major pharmaceutical groups and contract research organisations around financial optimisation of clinical trials. Prior to joining Deloitte in 2006, Richard was international tax director for a major pharmaceutical group and has spent considerable time working in the US, Germany and Italy.[/private]
